Pakistan closes its consulate in Jalalabad, Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) – Pakistan closed its consulate in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, in protest at the intrusion of the provincial governor of Nangarhar, the Pakistan embassy in Kabul confirmed on Friday.

The Pakistani embassy in Kabul has also registered its protest for interference in the Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan.

The Pakistani embassy also demanded that the Afghan Foreign Ministry stop interfering with its Governor in the affairs of the Pakistani consulate, the sources added.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul also informed the Afghan government about the decision.

Interfering the Afghan governor in the affairs of the Pakistani consulate is a violation of the Vienna Convention, the embassy said.
