Japan’s ambassador assures Punjab cooperation in irrigation, drinking water

web hamari: Japan’s ambassador to Pakistan, Takashi Kurai, called Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar here Tuesday and discussed several issues of mutual interest, including promoting bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in different sectors.

Upon accessing the details, the Japanese ambassador said to promote cooperation with the Punjab on irrigation, clean drinking water and technical and professional education.

He said it is necessary to transform Pakistan-Japan relations into strong economic ties and Japan is willing to further promote its relations with Pakistan.

The envoy said that economic relations between Pakistan and Japan will increase further in the coming days and measures will be taken to promote investment between Punjab and a Japanese city of Osaka.

Talking to the ambassador, Punjab CM Usman Buzdar said that the science and technology sector will advance in Punjab by learning from the rapid progress made by Japan.

“We will also benefit from the Japanese experience when innovative reforms are introduced in the new Pakistan,” he added.

He said there is a need to take effective measures to expand trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, adding that the volume of bilateral trade between Pakistan and Japan should also increase.

There is huge investment potential in different sectors in Punjab, including medical care, education, energy production and drinking water supply, he said, adding that an investment-friendly environment is provided and, as a result, the interest of investors foreigners has increased in Pakistan especially in Punjab due to favorable government policies.

CM Buzdar said there are many investment opportunities available in different sectors of the province and added that the best facilities will be provided to foreign investors in Punjab. He said: “It is the best time to give a new dimension to our friendship with Japan.”
