Fazlur Rehman termed parliament ‘bogus’ but now wishes to become president, criticizes Fawad
ISLAMABAD (Webhamari.com) – The Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry, criticized on Wednesday the head of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Fazlur Rehman, saying that he had called the parliament “false” but now he wants to become president of the country.
His statement came during the interaction of the media outside the house of parliament in Islamabad.
In announcing the end of the Electronic Media Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Pemra) and the press council, Fawad said that a unified Pakistani Media Regulatory Authority will be created with the merger of the two aforementioned departments.
He said that the merger would help save national resources since the new regulatory body would deal with electronic, print and social media simultaneously.
The Minister stated that the Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority would be a world-class entity composed of professionals and also media representatives.
In a question about Aamir Liaquat, Fawad prayed that Allah would guide everyone to the right path.
Entertainment and film industry to be given priority
In his speech to the Senate, Fawad reported that entertainment and the film industry will receive priority from the Ministry of Information according to the new policy.
The previous government in the center spent 17 billion rupees on advertisements and if the amount spent by the Punjab government also accumulates, those figures reach 40 billion rupees.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has given clear instructions that no amount will be spent on self-projection or government advertising.
The Minister of Information said that the censorship has been lifted in the state media and now the opposition parties also have time in the PTV.
He added that Pakistan Television has been ordered to complete the process of installing amplifiers in different areas in three months.
